    I'd like to point out he wasn't banned by the Chinese government and only wasn't allowed to join a tournament based in a particular Chinese city.

    Why would I be comparing a 2D online games to a real life situation? that's absurd and invalid, but since this is a rhetorical question what if the person who wears the shirt is also black and walks in to the black neighborhood? then suddenly an asian dude came up to him and use racist comment that's obviously hurtful just because the black person's shirt says N word somehow the asian dude is exempt for racial hate speech? that's why it really depends, there's a fine line between a joke and a hate speech.
