[READ FIRST] Common Technical Problems

Question

A PROPER RE-INSTALLATION OF THE FULL CLIENT FIXES 95% OF THE PROBLEMS:

Mediafire link to full client, updated 4th Feb 2014: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/r0j3qsm7jgq3b/Full_Installer_Parts

These are the most common technical issues:

1. Question:

I started Ragnarok and the window is just a tiny bar/the fullscreen just shows black and white.

Answer:

Chances are that you are playing Ragnarok on Windows 8 or a proer version of Windows 7. If that is the case, try either of the following:

1. Change the resolution of your client via an OLD version of setup. Make sure you are running it as adminstrator.

2. Change the compability of your ragnarok to XP. (Right click>Properties>Compability>Older versions)

3. Try both 1 & 2.

http://playdreamerro.com/forums/index.php?/topic/15307-how-to-make-dro-client-compatible-with-windows-8/

If none of the above proposed solutions works for you, you can try editing the height and width of your Ragnarok client in the registry files as outlined in the steps here:

http://playdreamerro.com/forums/index.php?/topic/16817-small-screen-problem/?p=179261

2. Question:

I got a gravity error with 2 buttons that show either Copy or Exit.

Answer:

Gravity errors occurs when your client tries to load data that does not exist in your client files. They can occur randomly as a result of minor errors in data loading during normal gameplay. If you get a gravity error once, exit it and try again. Chances are that it should work normally.

However, if you try several times and gravity error on every single instance, you are probably missing files that the server has already implemented. In that event, make sure that you are fully patched on both kRO and dRO.

If you got the error instantly upon your first time logging in, you probably have a corrupted installation of dRO. This often occurs when one installs the lite client over a ragnarok folder that already contains files edited from a previous server. In that event, please download the full installer and ensure that you install it into a clean folder.

If you got the error instantly upon login and your dRO has functioned properly before, you may be in a map that the server has already implemented but you have not patched. In that case, please either patch or use the reset position function from the game control panel to reset your spawn location. You can also use Palk's manual grf and replace your existing one if you're having issues patching.

P.S. Don't copy the error code chunk and paste it in the forums. It's usually useless in helping solve your problem.

3. Question:

My screenshots turn out all greyish and stretched. E.g.

screenYggdrasil_New_Open000.jpg

Screenshot credit from Nessa from iRO forums.

Answer:

Your client is being played in a resolution that does not fit the normal 4:3 aspect ratio that Ragnarok typically function on. Use setup to change your resolution to one that isn't in widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio. Common resolution combinations to those are 640x480, 1024x768, 1280x1024.

4. Question:

My Alt+M hotkeys don't save!

Answer:

Simply right-click your client (the patcher or exe.exe) and select 'run as administrator'.
Your game will start normally so you can edit your hotkeys ingame and they will stay.

This applies to both Windows Vista and Windows 7.

http://playdreamerro.com/forums/index.php?/topic/7220-solution-alt-m-hotkeys-dont-save/

5. Question:

When I login to the character screen, the characters and words and stuff are overlapping each other!

Answer:

It's a corrupt client and requires a reinstall.

6. Question:

I wish to change my email address for my account, is that possible?

Answer:

No. The admin will not entertain account email changes for security reasons. It is your own responsibility to ensure that your email address is in proper working order when you create your account.

7. Question:

I forgot my @security and I didn't enable security questions/forgot them!

8. Question:

My exe.exe doesn't run!

Answer:

Ok i just found the solution.

Basically a "side-by-side" error refers to conflicting Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable versions. I.E. DRO runs on 2008 but your system, for some reason only has the most updated 2010/2012 versions installed.

FIX: http://www.microsoft.com/en-sg/download/confirmation.aspx?id=29

It should work

http://playdreamerro.com/forums/index.php?/topic/17779-exeexe-patcher-question/&do=findComment&comment=191149

9. Question:

I get the error message "Failed to Connect. Check server status." whenever I try to log in.

Answer:

First, make sure that the server is online by checking the server status here. (The top of the page indicates the server's availability)

If the server is up and you get the fail to connect message, it means your access between your computer and the server is being blocked, most likely by a firewall or an antivirus. To connect, make sure to add the server's connection as an exception to your firewall(s) or antivirus. (For Windows users, your firewall can be found under Control Panel > Windows Firewall)

If there are no firewalls or antivirus on your computer blocking the connection, keep in mind that some routers have their own firewall which may be blocking access to the server. Make sure port 6900 5121 and 6121 are open.

10. Question:

I have problems "moving my mouse or clicking in-game."

Answer:

This is likely Gepard Shield blocking your mouse. You can try playing with the settings inside a file called "dinput" in your DreamerRO folder. Disabling the "Mouse Freedom" settings has helped many users regain control of their mouse while they play DreamerRO. Play with all settings that may seem necessary or rename/delete the file to test as well. If it all fails, purchasing a cheap mouse with left/ right click+scroll should do the trick.

Disclaimer: Please understand that this FAQ is not foolproof. Should you find that the answer in the FAQ does not absolve your problem, please proceed to either 1. Google it 2. Provide more details in a post 3. Restart your computer 4. Do a complete full reinstall of your dRO client.

More questions - to be updated whenever appropriate

Question:

Answer:

May not be applicable now that the patcher got updated:

Question:

My patcher threw up an error!

Answer:

If it is a fatal error (the patcher immediately closes after clicking OK), ignore it and try again.

If it is a neoncube error that says something like the file cannot be obtained, check your Internet connection. This error may also occur when HaZe does serverwide announcements telling everyone to "patch now to see the <insert some new release thing here>" causing the patch server to be flooded with patch requests. Don't worry, wait awhile and try again.

This error occurs because of the inability of Windows 8 to set a resolution for RO if their computer is running RO for the first time. Because of that, you will have to manually fix the resolution by downloading the old setup file in the link above (Here's the link from above if you really can't find it for reasons unknown:  http://www.mediafire.com/download/hmizmyimhf1/CustomizedSetup.rar) and setting the resolution then saving the settings before you run RO.

Uncheck full screen on the left, check run as administrator on the right.

Also make sure that your setup, dro patcher and exe.exe is run as administrator.

Make sure that you are running setup as admin as well and that all 3 of your files are opened in the same settings (XP compatibility and running as administrator).

This is an example of my patcher setup.

I'm getting Gravity error here, and none of your suggestions works (reinstalling, patching kRO, changing compability and run as admin). I was so frustated untill I saw this line:

Gravity errors occurs when your client tries to load data that does not exist in your client files.

and afaik data in RO saved in .grf format, so i tried manual downloading the grf (dated Jan 12, 2014) then replaced the older ones. and voila, my dRO now works flawlessly

fyi, I used the full client installer on the dRO site (dated Feb 04, 2014).

List of things I've done in sequence:

- download full client

- patch dRO

- reinstall

- patch dRO again

- change the compability

- set ALL .exe files to run as admin : exe.exe, dRO patcher, kRO patcher (that two rsu-kro files), and setup (old and new)

- patch kRO (it actually patch/download something) - up to this point gravity error still occurs

- download and replace grf

I'm using Windows 7 btw. I hope this helps anyone who encounters the same problem. Cheers

I got the exact same thing (GE upon character select screen) when the new autopatcher got released.

Palk's manual grf saved me, but I soon realised that patching with the autopatcher will cause the error to resurface every time. (I'm sustaining by having a copy of the manual grf and just replacing the folder's grf everytime I encounter the error)

Theories from discussions with people who have also gotten the error points to a possible grf repackaging problem because of the system locale languages. (Mine was Japanese, as was the ones who was encountering the error) so that MIGHT have something to do with it, although I cannot confirm the theory at the moment.

For now I changed my system locale to English and hoping that nothing screws up.

Hello, new (hopeful) player, and I'm having an issue that apparently my younger sister is having as well.

I'm running Win 7 and she's on 8, so I don't think it's a problem with the OS, but whenever we try to patch, nothing loads in the bars whatsoever, and we can hit Start, as if it's already patched - hit the button, a window pops up for a split second and disappears before anything loads, and then nothing.

We've both tried the Manual GRF multiple times, but it does the same exact thing as if we hadn't.

We've played many, many, many different private servers and have yet to encounter this issue at all.

I currently don't have any other server (kRO included) on this computer, so I used the full installer.

I'm just wondering what the issue might be?

There may be 2 solutions to the problem you're facing.

Either

1. Change compability of the crucial files (Patcher, setup and client file exe.exe) to Windows XP SP3

2. Refer to this: http://playdreamerro.com/forums/index.php?/topic/17779-exeexe-patcher-question/&do=findComment&comment=191149

Make sure DRO is installed in it's own folder and not shared with any other servers

Yup, I had it installed in that way and It's the only server that I have.

Anyway, I'll re-install it. Bless me~~

No fate, cannot log in... sob. TT

Sounds like either your anti-virus or firewall blocking the connection.
